CIVIL 3140 – Environmental Systems Engineering

This course is designed to introduce undergraduate students to the fundamental science and engineering principles of environmental engineering, including mass balance, water chemistry, water and wastewater treatment, air pollution, and solid waste management.
Students with a wide variety of environmental engineering backgrounds will be engaged in this course by reading the textbook and participating in class discussions and hands-on lab activities.

This course is designed to introduce graduate students to the fundamental theory and application of the physical and chemical processes in water and wastewater treatment, including coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, disinfection/disinfection byproducts, chemical oxidation, air stripping, adsorption, membrane filtration, and ion exchange.
